Objectives: The aim of the study is to establish a maintenance protocol for the biorevitalizers treatment with high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HMWHA)
Introduction: The treatment and/or prevention of skin aging is one of the main reasons for consultation in our offices. We have a new generation of skin biorevitalizer with a high molecular weight (2.7-3.7∙10^6 Da) non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid similar to that of the skin. The anti-aging effectiveness of injected hyaluronic acid is well known. Its injection deep into the dermis stimulates collagen production, increases skin hydration, firmness and elasticity, improves the morphology and function of fibroblasts, and reinforces the epidermal barrier.
Materials / method: 3.2 ml (HMWHA) distributed between the face and neck were injected with 30G/4 mm needles in 5 volunteers female. In total, 3 sessions spaced every 3 weeks, and a maintenance schedule of 1 session every 2 months was established.
Results: After the treatment, there was an improvement the elasticity by 3%, for hydration 5.7 %, with a decrease in erythema of 3.3% and melanin of 28.1% compared to baseline.
After 10 months of maintenance protocol, an improvement in the final results of the treatment was shown. Elasticity improved by 18.2%, for hydration the improvement was 10.4%, with a decrease in erythema of 5.2% and melanin of 24.5% compared to baseline. These results were objectively quantified by the Cutometer®, Mexameter® and Corneometer® probes.
Conclusion: The dermal injection of HMWHA with a molecular weight between 2.7-3.7∙10^6 Da has proven to be effective and safe in the treatment and prevention of skin aging. The maintenance protocol has not only maintained the results of the treatment, but also continues to improve the results obtained after each application.
