Objectives: This study aims to describe integrated fronto-naso-orbital contouring procedure for transgender women, detailing the surgical methods employed and the outcomes achieved.
Introduction: Facial gender affirmation surgery (FGAS), commonly referred to as facial feminization surgery (FFS), encompasses a wide range of procedures predominantly designed for transgender patients. Materials / method: 2023. The focus of the study was on fronto-naso-orbital contouring. Surgical outcomes were assessed based on operation time, postoperative complications, results, and patient-reported outcomes (PROs).
Results: Twenty transgender women, aged 25 to 50 years (mean age: 32.4 years), underwent fronto-naso-orbital contouring. The body mass indices (BMIs) of the participants ranged from 22 to 28, with an average of 24.5. The typical postoperative hospital stay was 48 hours. All patients reported high levels of satisfaction and an improvement in quality of life according to patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). Postoperative complications included temporary numbness and bruising; however, no cases of facial nerve weakness or frontal sinus issues were observed in this group.
Conclusion: This study demonstrates the integration of fronto-naso-orbital contouring in transgender women resulted in high patient satisfaction and minimal postoperative complications. These findings underscore the effectiveness of this procedure, adhering to established principles of craniofacial surgery.
