Objectives: To describe the author’s experience with 2,644 cases from January 2019 to June 2024, in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, in the treatment of edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy using biostimulators prior to fibrous septa detachment
Introduction: Edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy (EFSP), or cellulite, affects many adults, particularly women. This study describes the author's experience with 2,644 cases treated from January 2019 to June 2024 in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. By combining biostimulating agents with the detachment of fibrous septa, the treatment aims to improve both the appearance and satisfaction of patients.
Materials / method: This study involved 2,644 EFSP cases treated from January 2019 to June 2024 in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The treatment combined biostimulators and fibrous septa detachment. Patients were photographed before and after treatment, and the images were analyzed for visual improvements. Patient satisfaction was assessed through questionnaires, and the medical staff's satisfaction was evaluated based on the ease of procedure and clinical outcomes. Data from these assessments were compiled and analyzed to determine the overall effectiveness and satisfaction with the treatment protocol.
Results: Photographic evaluations showed significant improvements in overall skin health. The biostimulating agents enhanced circulation and general metabolism, promoting neocollagenesis. The mechanical effect of septa detachment, performed with the appropriate techniques, effectively leveled skin retractions and decompressed fat deposits. This combination protocol addressed the root causes of cellulite by decomposing fat, improving collagen structure, and boosting circulation and metabolism.
Conclusion: The combination of biostimulators and fibrous septa detachment proved to be an effective treatment for edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy. This protocol not only improved the structural and aesthetic aspects of the skin but also resulted in an extremely high satisfaction rate among patients and medical staff. Despite the learning curve associated with this technique, the author has dedicated their practice entirely to this treatment.
