Introduction: - In the cosmetic industry we place a lot of focus on face
- But hair makes up a huge part of a person’s self image and is one of the few aspects that we can change , adapt, control and revert
- Loss of hair can impact self confidence
- Women in particular place great emphasis on hair as part of their beauty
- Loss of hair in women less frequent than men but greater impact
- Under-served market. Hair loss products targeted to men primarily

Materials / method: In these studies the female clients were selected to receive different types of treatment for their established FPHL. These are categorised broadly into topical , injectable, and replacement treatments.
The studies detailed identify methods of diagnosis, the benefits and pitfalls of treatments , and the objective results.

Investigating the Safety and Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment for Female Androgenetic Alopecia: Review of the Literature

The data from the review indicates high levels of satisfaction, better responses in terms of hair growth and thickness with use of PRP compared to placebo or topical minoxidil.
In our lab we use calcium carbonate or calcium chloride to activate the PRP. Thrombin is effective at releasing growth factors, but the tissues may not be receptive to too many G Factors at a time
