The Millennial Face-Neck Lift. Designed by Millennial Surgeons, for Boomer Patients
Objectives: We've developed a very safe and highly predictable Face and Neck Lift surgical procedure. It is also suitable for young surgeons approaching face surgery, as it consists of several steps. From more simple steps, that can be performed by less trained surgeons up to more difficult procedures, including an anterior approach to the neck.
As surgeons improve their skill, they move forward to more challenging steps, helping to achieve great results even in elderly and more complicated patients. Always safe from danger zones and nerve injuries.
Introduction: Face Surgery is still a Niche.
Lots of surgeons are still afraid of it,and this may lead to do incorrect treatments of face/neck laxity.During the last 10 years, I've experienced the learning curve of a face/neck lift: starting with minimal undermining and plications to greater underminings, deep plane undermining, anterior neck approach and so on. In the end, I came up with a technique that combines a deep platysma flap elevation with a vertical SMAS plication or High SMAS deep approach and anterior neck opening.
The steps to be included depend both on patient's needs and on surgeon's skills
Materials / method: During the last 10 years I've personally performed nearly 800 Face-Neck lift Procedures. Therefore, I have experienced the learning curve of the procedure.
I have this way realized which are the most challenging steps that a young surgeon has to pass through, the most common errors and fears, steps sometimes overvalued, and others that are real game-changers.
I have experienced the unworthy risks to be taken, and-on the other side- the ones that should routinely be taken, as they guarantee excellent results.
The result is my 'Millennial Face-Neck Lift' Technique
Results: The most crucial part of a face-neck lift is the correct restoration of the jawline, with platysma redraping under the mandible, and restoration of a sharp neck angle. That's why a deep release and tightening of the neck is mandatory, even with an anterior approach. In the mid-face, Vertical SMAS plication may often be effective and achieves a great result. If patient is sagging, and surgeon experienced, a high SMAS deep approach can restore a mid-face fullness, and have a vertical SMAS repositioning. Submandibular, digastric reduction, are for experienced surgeons, but necessary in a few cases
Conclusion: Face-Neck surgery is the most satisfactory surgery ever.
It achieves amazing results, leaves enthusiastic patients and has rare side effects.
However, lots of surgeons are afraid of it: it seems to be too difficult, too dangerous. It is possible anyway to reach great results while avoiding danger zones and nerve injuries, while delivering happiness to our patients. The goal of my technique is to have a safe and reproducible technique, suitable for less experienced surgeons but at the same time able to fit the needs of the more experienced. As a Lifting will always rejuvenate more than any filler
