Biography

Shanthala Shivananjappa, MD, is an American Board-Certified Anesthesiologist and cosmetic physician. She completed her postgraduate medical training (MD) at Harvard University. She went on to serve as a staff anesthesiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she also taught residents as faculty at Harvard Medical School, and later as an Assistant Professor at Yale New Haven Hospital.

After more than 20 years in anesthesiology, Dr. Shivananjappa transitioned into aesthetic medicine and, in 2014, established ShanthalaMD Laser & Aesthetic Center a physician focused center dedicated to innovation and excellence near Boston. Over the past 11 years, she has performed thousands of non-surgical cosmetic procedures, including advanced laser resurfacing, laser coring, UltraClear® fiber laser rejuvenation, injectables, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for hair and skin restoration, non-surgical skin tightening, thread lifts, and scar revision.

She has contributed to abstracts and presentations on regenerative aesthetics and laser innovations at international meetings, including the Non-Surgical Symposium in Australia, Dubai Derma, the Paris World Congress, 5CC, DASIL & SCARS meetings. Dr. Shivananjappa is a member of ASLMS and other professional societies.

Her special interests include Laser Coring, regenerative medicine, scar management, and the development of physician-led laser protocols. She is committed to patient education, lifelong learning and to advancing safe, physician-performed, patient-centered care in aesthetic medicine.
