Objectives: Nowadays, ultrasonography is very useful to identify masseter muscle and surrounding structures for masseter reduction with botulinum toxin. And besides ultrasonography guided injection is much more precise and safe than blind injection. I would like to share my clinical experiences, and to provide a new insight for masseter and gland injection for safe and effective result with ultrasonography. Introduction: Ultrasonography has been widely used in various medical fields, especially internal medicine, gynecology, and lately orthopedic medicine. However lately, ultrasonography has started to use in aesthetic medicine because most of aesthetic procedures are performed blindly, so there have been a lot of demands for precise and safe injections. Among aesthetic procedures, Botulinum toxin injection to masseter muscle is one of the most common procedures in Asia, but still it is performed blindly because masseter muscle is touchable by hand. Parotid gland is also the target of botulinum toxin treatment Materials / method: Ultrasonography is used for masseter and parotid gland botulinum toxin injection. Split test of ultrasonography guided injection and blind injection demonstrates differences. Ultrasonography guided botulinum injection was performed for patients who have masseter hypertrophy and parotid gland enlargement. Results: Ultrasonography is very useful to identify masseter muscle and parotid gland. And guided injection is more safe and effective than blind injection. Conclusion: Ultrasonography guided botulinum toxin injection is precise and safe.
