Technique from the PHILIPPINES - Thread lifting for Filipino faces
Objectives: To recognize the common aesthetic concerns and trends among Filipino patients
To demonstrate how thread lifting can be performed to achieve aesthetic goals in Filipino patients
Introduction: Filipinos represent a Pan-Asian ethnicity with western influences. Beauty standards are always evolving and are now leaning towards mixed features of both Asian and Caucasian influences. In the Philippines, the aesthetic goal is to beautify, improve facial shape and create a youthful appearance while maintaining a natural outcome. Thread lifting has become a very popular treatment in the Philippines. This lecture will focus on my treatment strategies using threads on Filipino patients with various aesthetic concerns.
Materials / method: In this lecture, assessment, treatment strategies and thread methods on Filipino patients will be presented. Videos of the techniques as well as before and after photos will be presented.
Results: The most common treatment indication of thread lifting in Filipino patients include lifting of the nasolabial folds and jowls, nose augmentation, lifting of the eyebrows/eyelids and tightening and lifting the neck. Absorbable thread material containing PCL/PLLA provides effective, natural and long-lasting outcomes. Combination with other non-surgical treatments will further improve outcome.
Conclusion: Thread lifting is an important aesthetic tool in treating Filipino patients. The treatment strategies must be designed to address specific concerns, taking into consideration the beauty trend in the country while maintaining a natural look.
