Key points in upper eyelid blepharoplasty
Objectives: the main objective of our presentation is to show the evolution of upper eyelid blepharoplasty after thousands of surgeries performed under local/general anesthesia , with strict and professional patient/treatment selection, using a simple surgical design,applying and respecting standard steps, adding out tips and performing with an obvious improvement of patient satisfaction rate
Introduction: Upper lid blepharoplasty is one of the most demanded aesthetic procedures, all statistics are showing an increased number of surgeries and also the interest for this kind of surgeries in teen agers , the main concerns are the outcome and the scar after surgery, good results and scar quality can be improved by respecting rules and performing tips and tricks
Materials / method: with almost 200 blepharoplasties / year performed in our clinic we were trying to compare results according to our records and we found that patient selection and treatment plan are essential elements to perform blepharoplasty, the second crucial moment is the surgical design , where to place the final scar? How much skin we can excise? we show our personal approach to do surgical marking in a simple, safe and effective way, our decision is to trim part of the Orbicularis-oculi muscle , then to apply a muscle plication in order to fill the gap between the upper and the lower edge of the skin
Results: our results are evaluated by the experts and the patients, scar quality is obviously improved, general satisfaction is better, and the longevity of results is good.
Conclusion: upper eyelid blepharoplasty is not a trend , it is one of the most attractive areas for aesthetic treatment , the number of cases is bigger and good results are the only way to perform in high standards as a plastic surgeon
