Introduction: The popularity of BBL surgery ( gluteal augmentation with fat grafting) has been increasing over the last two decades. As a natural result of this phenomenon, the number of patients who require revision has also increased. In this presentation, it was aimed to spot the mistakes made in primary surgeries and understand what leads to a revision and how to prevent them. Also, the management of the revision surgery and treatment options were explained.
Materials / method: 105 revision bbl surgeries were performed between June 2020 - September 2023. 80 patients were mostly satisfied with their previous surgeries, they were just willing to enhance their results. 25 patients were unhappy with their first surgeries and suffering from deformities. In order to treat them, a combination of liposuction, fat grafting, scar/fibrotic tissue release, seroma drainage, and capsulectomy and taping were performed.
Results: Out of 105 patients, 80 of them just required a straightforward BBL surgery in order to enhance their results. 25 of them required surgical correction. 5 patients required multiple sessions to have a satisfying result.
Conclusion: There are only a couple of publications available about revision / secondary bbl procedure. Even though it is a common procedure regularly performed in daily practice, the data about this procedure it remains lacking. In this presentation, first, it was aimed to address the mistakes in primary cases and how to approach a primary patient for the best possible outcome. In case of failure, it was aimed to list the possible reasons for revision surgery and clarify/discuss the treatment options. It was also aimed to stress the surgical technique differences between the first and the revision surge
