The Use of Poly-L-Lactic Acid and the Enhancement of Its Effects through Intramuscular Proline, L-Lysine, D-Panthenol, and Biotin
Objectives: The objective of this study is to evaluate the importance of supplementation during the use of biostimulatory agents. Specifically, this research aims to demonstrate how a four-week intramuscular supplementation regimen, administered once a week, can enhance the efficacy of biostimulators by ensuring effective nutrient absorption, ultimately optimizing the desired aesthetic outcomes.
Introduction: Skin aging and the loss of elasticity are complex processes involving a reduction in collagen and elastin production, leading to skin laxity and altered body contours. Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) has gained prominence in aesthetic dermatology as an effective bio-stimulator in promoting neocollagenesis. However, the quest for enhanced results has led to the investigation of combined approaches, such as the use of intramuscular supplements that may potentiate the effects of PLLA.
Materials / method: This literature review is based on an analysis of scientific articles, clinical studies, and systematic reviews published in major medical databases. The inclusion criteria were studies addressing the use of PLLA in body treatments, as well as research on the impact of intramuscular administration of L-Proline, L-Lysine, D-Panthenol, and Biotin on collagen synthesis and aesthetic outcomes.
Results: The intramuscular administration of L-Proline, L-Lysine, D-Panthenol, and Biotin may work synergistically with PLLA, enhancing its effects by providing the necessary substrates for collagen synthesis and stabilization. Preliminary studies suggest that combining these substances may accelerate the regenerative response and optimize aesthetic outcomes, especially in patients with low response to PLLA treatment alone. Further clinical studies are needed to confirm the efficacy of this strategy and to establish application protocols that maximize benefits for patients
