Objectives: ADULT FEMALE ACNE (AFA) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous follicle, with a predominant distribution in the lower third of the face, which affects adult women over 25 years of age.
AFA usually follows a chronic course, often marked by frequent relapses that require ongoing maintenance therapy.
Several factors contribute to the development of AFA, especially hormonal imbalance.
Pathophysiological understanding is essential to ensure that treatment choices are the most appropriate for each case.
