Primary vs. Secondary Mastopexy with Gland Remodeling: Pearls to Success
Objectives: The primary objectives are to compare the surgical outcomes between primary and secondary mastopexy with gland remodeling. This includes evaluating aesthetic improvements, assessing the role of lipofilling in enhancing breast contour, analyzing the effectiveness of mesh in selected secondary cases, and sharing key surgical pearls to optimize patient satisfaction and minimize complications.
Introduction: Mastopexy is essential in the management of breast ptosis, with distinct approaches for primary and secondary cases. This study analyzes 150 cases of mastopexy, focusing on the surgical technique of gland remodeling, in which lipofilling and mesh are utilized for optimal outcomes.
Materials / method: A retrospective review of 150 patients undergoing primary and secondary mastopexy with gland remodeling was performed. Data collected encompassed aesthetic outcomes, patient satisfaction, and complication rates, with follow-ups done at 3, 6, and 12 months post-surgery.
Results: Preliminary results indicate that gland remodeling significantly enhances breast shape and symmetry in both primary and secondary patients. Lipofilling contributed positively to volume and contour, while mesh utilization provided essential support in complex secondary cases. High patient satisfaction was reported across the series.
Conclusion: This study underscores the effectiveness of individualized surgical techniques in mastopexy, highlighting gland remodeling, lipofilling, and mesh as valuable tools for improving aesthetic outcomes in both primary and secondary procedures.
