The Future of Dermocosmetics
Objectives: -Introduce mRNA technology in the setting of aesthetic medicine
-Spotlight existing data that shows the opportunity of this technology in aesthetics
-Suggest novel uses of mRNA technology to advance aesthetic medicine
Introduction: While at times skincare precedes medical dermatology in terms of technology and therapeutic targets, COVID accelerated the adoption of mRNA-based therapeutics and vaccines in general medicine. By directing protein synthesis utilizing existing cellular machinery, mRNA bypasses the Hallmarks of Aging to essentially force cells to act younger.
Materials / method: Data review and future consideration
Results: mRNA encompasses a very exciting opportunity to enhance skin health and beauty without too much concern about the skin's current state.
Conclusion: As the next step in rejuvenation after targeting the Hallmarks of Aging, mRNA technology offers up the possibility of intermittent applications of skincare or minimally invasive procedures to personalize a regimen.
