Treatment of the Gluteal Region after Weight Loss: Combination of Techniques
Objectives: Demonstrate the effectiveness of the association of intramuscular filling techniques and collagen biostimulation in the superficial subcutaneous tissue, both with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) in the aesthetic treatment of the female gluteal region after significant weight loss and loss of volume in the region.
Introduction: The gluteal region is basically made up of skin, superficial and deep subcutaneous tissue, and muscles. The volume of the female buttocks so desired by many women around the world, is due to the natural fatty tissue in this region. After significant weight loss processes, a drastic decrease in gluteal volume is expected, as well as marked sagging in the region, which generally causes a lot of discomfort, dissatisfaction, and even depressive symptoms in many women. Treatment with intramuscular fillers resembles the result of a hypertrophied gluteal muscle after effective weight training, givin
Materials / method: Intramuscular gluteal filling techniques were combined with collagen biostimulation on the skin in a 55-year-old white female patient who had lost 30 kg as a result of diet and physical activity. The patient underwent intramuscular PMMA 30% (biosimetric 30%) filling, 250 ml on each side of the gluteus, plus 60 ml of collagen bistimulator with PMMA 15% (biosimetric 15%) on each side. The entire treatment was performed in just 2 sessions, with a 40-day interval between them. Both procedures were performed in an outpatient setting, under local anesthesia, with an 18g cannula for both the muscular
Results: The result was highly fast and effective, considering it is an outpatient, minimally invasive procedure, in which the patient walks normally immediately after the procedure. Furthermore, in a short time of evolution – only 40 days –, the patient showed significant improvement in the gluteal region. She gained firmness, projection and volume, as desired, with 100% satisfaction.
Conclusion: The combination of collagen biostimulation and intramuscular gluteal filling proved to be highly effective in the treatment of the gluteal region without volume and with a high degree of sagging. In this case, the choice of filler makes a difference, since PMMA is the only one indicated to work intramuscularly, giving tone to the region.
