The “airbrushed forehead” technique: combined diluted hyaluronic acid and microdroplet botulinum toxin for natural forehead rejuvenation
Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a combined diluted HA and microdroplet BoNT-A protocol in improving forehead textural quality.
Secondary objectives included:
* Assessing preservation of dynamic forehead movement
* Determining patient satisfaction
* Evaluating safety and tolerability
* Documenting any incidence of brow ptosis or heaviness
Introduction: Forehead rejuvenation is among the most requested aesthetic procedures but remains challenging. Standard botulinum toxin can over-relax the frontalis, reduce brow elevation, or flatten the upper face. Modern trends favor natural movement and subtle refinement. Intradermal HA fillers enhance hydration, dermal thickness, and skin quality, while microdroplet botulinum toxin smooths fine lines without full paralysis. The “Airbrushed Forehead” technique combines both for a radiant, polished, and naturally expressive forehead.
Materials / method: Fifteen patients underwent intradermal diluted HA microthreading followed by superficial microdroplet BoNT-A injections. Texture, luminosity, and movement preservation were assessed at baseline, 2 weeks, and 6 weeks using clinical photography, physician scoring, dermal imaging, and patient-reported outcomes.
Results: All patients exhibited improved forehead texture, fine-line reduction, and increased radiance. Forehead mobility was preserved in 93% of cases. No severe complications occurred.
Conclusion: The “Airbrushed Forehead” technique provides natural, balanced forehead rejuvenation with minimal risk of brow heaviness, offering a refined alternative to toxin-only protocols.
