Lipolytic agents via cannula
Objectives: Delivering lipolytics through blunt cannulas reduces punctures, pain, bruising, and post-inflammatory changes compared to traditional needle injections. In six patients, treatments for facial and body fat pads showed visible fat reduction after two sessions. Using DA + PPC or a CCTMT mix ensured safety and comfort with fewer side effects. This simple, less painful technique improved patient adherence and produced effective results with low complication rates.
Introduction: Lipolytic injectables are effective for localized fat reduction but often cause discomfort, bruising, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation when administered with needles. Delivering these agents through blunt cannulas minimizes trauma, pain, and punctures while enhancing diffusion and patient tolerance. This study evaluated safety and efficacy of the technique for facial and body fat pads.
Materials / method: Six patients underwent localized fat reduction using blunt 25G cannulas for delivery of deoxycholic acid (DA) combined with phosphatidylcholine (PPC) or a CCTMT lipolytic blend. Two treatment sessions were performed at 30-day intervals. Injection was retrograde and superficial, following aseptic technique. Outcomes were assessed through photographic comparison and patient satisfaction.
Results: After two sessions, all patients presented visible reduction of localized fat with minimal discomfort and downtime. No major complications, nodules, or pigmentary alterations were observed. Pain and bruising were significantly lower than with needle injections. Patients reported higher satisfaction due to the comfort and natural, progressive contouring achieved.
Conclusion: Lipolytic delivery through blunt cannulas is a safe, minimally invasive, and effective alternative to traditional needle techniques. It reduces trauma, inflammation, and risk of adverse events while maintaining excellent results. The method enhances patient adherence by providing a more comfortable experience with predictable and reproducible fat reduction outcomes.
