Ultrasonographic measurement after multilayer stimulation for body fat reduction and muscle strengthening
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of a multimodal noninvasive body-contouring device that simultaneously delivers radiofrequency heating, electrical muscle stimulation, and vacuum-assisted lymphatic modulation. Using ultrasound-based measurements, we assessed changes in abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness, rectus abdominis muscle thickness, waist circumference, BMI, and patient-reported outcomes after a full treatment course.
Introduction: Noninvasive body contouring has become increasingly popular as patients seek effective alternatives to liposuction. Radiofrequency induces thermal lipolysis, EMS produces supramaximal muscle contractions, and vacuum improves lymphatic drainage and tissue mobility. Although each modality is individually validated, evidence on a synchronized, multilayer approach remains limited. This study investigates the combined effects of RF, EMS, and vacuum on abdominal fat and muscle.
Materials / method: Twenty healthy adults (BMI 22–28) received 16 abdominal treatments over 8 weeks using a device integrating bipolar RF (1 MHz), EMS (15–2080 Hz), and vacuum suction. Ultrasound assessed abdominal fat and muscle at baseline and 1-month follow-up. Waist circumference, BMI, standardized photography, and satisfaction scores were recorded. Safety, downtime, and adverse events were monitored. Paired t-tests evaluated statistical significance at P < 0.05.
Results: All participants completed treatment with no adverse events. Ultrasound revealed a 26% reduction in subcutaneous fat and a 19% increase in rectus abdominis muscle thickness. Waist circumference decreased by 2.1 cm, and BMI decreased by 0.53. Photographs confirmed visible contour improvements, and 94.5% of patients reported good or very good satisfaction. All resumed daily activities immediately, indicating excellent tolerability and minimal downtime.
Conclusion: Combined RF, EMS, and vacuum stimulation effectively reduced abdominal fat, increased muscle thickness, and improved overall contour with high satisfaction and minimal recovery time. The synergistic interaction of thermal, mechanical, and neuromuscular effects supports this technology as a reliable noninvasive option for abdominal shaping. Larger controlled studies with longer follow-up are needed to confirm durability and broader clinical applicability.
