PDO thread–based dynamic support: a novel concept to prevent overfill syndrome and enhance facial lifting outcomes
Objectives: PDO Thread–Based Dynamic Support introduces a multidirectional lifting approach that restores tensile equilibrium without volumetric overload. Using a crisscross PDO thread matrix, the technique redistributes tension, reinforces ligaments, and induces enhanced collagen remodeling. This strategy prevents overfill syndrome by providing structural lift, biomechanical harmony, and natural facial motion preservation.
Introduction: Conventional thread lifting techniques primarily rely on single-vector traction, which may provide tissue repositioning but can lead to uneven force distribution, limited regenerative response, and volumetric compensation strategies contributing to overfill syndrome. PDO Thread–Based Dynamic Support introduces a multidirectional lifting approach using a crisscross PDO thread matrix to restore tensile equilibrium, reinforce structural support, and preserve natural facial dynamics.
Materials / method: A multidirectional crisscross PDO thread matrix technique was developed using small-caliber PDO barbed threads inserted within the subdermal plane. Threads were arranged to create intersecting support vectors designed to redistribute mechanical tension, reinforce ligamentous structures, and generate mechanical stress nodes promoting collagen remodeling. The technique aimed to provide structural lifting while minimizing volumetric overload and maintaining facial mobility.
Results: The multidirectional woven configuration provided balanced force distribution and enhanced biomechanical support while preserving natural facial movement. Intersecting thread zones created reinforcement nodes that may facilitate collagen remodeling and improve structural integrity. The approach demonstrated the potential to achieve lifting effects without excessive filler dependence, thereby reducing the risk of overfill-related aesthetic distortion.
Conclusion: PDO Thread–Based Dynamic Support represents a regenerative structural lifting strategy integrating biomechanical stabilization and collagen biostimulation. By restoring tensile equilibrium through multidirectional support, this approach may provide natural facial rejuvenation while preserving dynamic expression and minimizing volumetric overload.
