Objectives: Show a new user interface: 3D projection with Augmented Reality (AR) developed in our institution from high resolution breast MRI.
• learn about new applications of 3D breast MRI with AR in the therapeutic management of subclinical breast cancer.
• Show an example of applications of 3D MRI with RA to improve a lumpectomy without conventional pre-operative identification, with the choice of an optimal incision
• Show an example of an application of 3D angioscanner with RA for the identification of the deep inferior epigastric perforator vessels.
Introduction: • A 3D model with Augmented Reality can be produced from breast MRI exams with optimal resolution, in particular an isotropic voxel.
• In the case of pre-operative guidance, examinations in the treatment position can be carried out.
• Technological improvements are coming (software, smart glasses, etc.) which will allow many other applications (in surgery, radiotherapy, etc.) in the treatment of breast pathologies, but also in other pathologies.
Materials / method: A 3D and Augmented Reality (AR) model of a breast MRI has been developed by our radiosurgical teams. We present an application of a 3D MRI with RA for the identification of a subclinical breast tumor in the operating room, with a preoperative MRI in the operating position in the supine position.
Results: The surgical approach is then determined by the surgeon with less detachment of the breast tissue and complications, with a more aesthetic incision compared to an intervention with usual spotting by harpoon. A 3D CT angiography application with RA in flap breast reconstructions is also on display.
Conclusion: Augmented reality could help the surgeon perform breast lumpectomies for subclinical cancers by reducing the size of the incisions and cutaneous-glandular detachments.
