Abstract

Objectives: Epidermal nevus striatus is hamartoma in the epidermis. They are thought to derived from pluripotent epidermal cells. It presents in 1 in 1000 births and manifests during i nfancy, childhood or even adulthood. There is no linked with neurologic symptoms. Various therapeutic modalities have been described, but no one therapy has been successful consistently. Introduction: A 20-year-old man came with a skin lesion behind his right ear since he was 2 years old. It slowly enlarged and made a linear plaque. There was no family history of this similar problems. Physical examination revealed multiple brown warty papules coalesced to form linear, verrucous, hyperpigmented plaque. The plaque lies on his right ear following the Blaschko line. He didn’t feel any pain or pruritus. There is no physical anomaly found. Materials / method: underwent carbon dioxide laser therapy with topical anesthesia before. The parameter laser at wavelength 10.600 nm used with continuous wave. Laser power ranged from 2 W to 4W, depend on the thickness and degree of keratosis of the lesion. After laser, the patient was asked to apply antibiotic topical treatment and occlusion non adherent dressing. Results: After three sessions of carbon dioxide laser, the epidermal nevus striatus has been diminished. Conclusion: Carbon dioxide laser 10.600 nm is effective and efficient treatment for epidermal nevus striatus.
