Abstract

Objectives: The presentation aims to highlight existing knowledge gaps regarding rosacea in Asia and among individuals with skin of color. Four completed studies are currently being disseminated, focusing on demographics, clinical manifestations, physicians’ knowledge, attitudes and practices, as well as the longitudinal management of rosacea. Introduction: Rosacea has long been perceived as a condition that primarily affects fair‑skinned Caucasians. More recently, however, it has been recognized as not uncommon within Asian populations. In individuals with skin of color, rosacea can be difficult to identify in darker skin phototypes and is often misdiagnosed, undertreated, or managed suboptimally. Distinguishing rosacea from acne also poses a significant challenge, particularly among younger patients. Materials / method: 1. Dermatol Ther (Heidelb). 2026 Results: Current practices among Philippine dermatologists show limited alignment with contemporary guideline‑based management of rosacea. This gap may reflect challenges such as local medication unavailability, treatment costs, and real‑world constraints including patients’ knowledge and behavior. To address the suboptimal adoption of existing guidelines, the REACH project (Galderma) now advocates for a more streamlined strategy—emphasizing a holistic, integrated, and long‑term approach to rosacea management. Conclusion: There is an urgent need for structured dissemination of guidelines, ongoing medical education, and practice‑oriented training strategies to enhance the consistency and quality of rosacea care across Asia. Empowering patients through informed, shared decision‑making—covering trigger avoidance, long‑term management, and treatment control—is essential. A holistic approach is strongly recommended.
