Abstract

Objectives: To redefine female sexual dysfunction (FSD) beyond age and hormonal factors using a multifactorial, patient-centered approach. Participants will learn to recognize FSD across different life stages and understand the roles of psychological, relational, and sociocultural factors. The session also aims to present individualized treatment strategies and improve consultation skills in intimate medicine. Introduction: FSD has traditionally been linked to aging and hormonal decline, particularly in menopausal women. However, this model does not reflect its complexity in modern practice. In many Asian societies, female sexuality has been under-recognized due to cultural norms. With increasing awareness, more women now seek help for previously unspoken concerns, highlighting FSD as a multidimensional condition. Materials / method: Contemporary strategies focus on individualized, multimodal treatments combining energy-based devices, regenerative therapies, and surgical interventions. Techniques include local flap design, vaginoplasty, and fat grafting to address dyspareunia and tissue atrophy. Social media also shapes patient awareness, expectations, and consultation dynamics, helping clinicians better understand patient needs. Results: FSD is increasingly recognized across all age groups, including younger and postpartum women. Improved consultation and communication increase patient willingness to express concerns. Addressing psychological and relational factors alongside physical aspects leads to more accurate assessment. Individualized multimodal treatments improve satisfaction, acceptance, and clinical efficiency. Conclusion: FSD should not be viewed solely as a result of aging or hormonal decline. A shift toward a multifactorial, patient-centered approach is essential. Integrating psychological, relational, and sociocultural factors with modern treatment strategies improves outcomes. Social media also plays a key role in shaping awareness and facilitating communication, empowering women to take an active role in their sexual well-being.
