Objectives: Learning outcomes will be how to manage HS patients with co2-laser and deroofing. Eligable treatment options with CO2-laser and deroofing procedures for various HS elements will be demonstrated.
Introduction: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory
cutaneous disorder that involves the
follicles in areas rich of apocrine glands. HS is associated with
formation of deep penetrating abscesses, fistulating sinus, painful nodules, and subsequent scarring. HS patients will benefit from a multidisiplianry approach including medical, laser and surgical treatment.
Materials / method: Various techniques to surgical management of HS will be presented reaching from co2-abaltion of chronical nodules to wide deroofing of chronical sinus tracts and removal of characteristic HS scarring. Clinical hacks and tips for general management during surgical interventions for HS patients will be provided.
Results: There is solid evidence for a multidisplinary treatment approach for HS patients. For chronical HS elements co2-laser and a combination with deroofing are effective.
Conclusion: CO2-laser treatment separately and/ or deroofing procedures may be effective treatments for HS with infrequent complications
and low recurrence rates.
