Dr. Pappas received his doctorate from Rutgers University in ’99 and began his professional career as a researcher in the Skin Research Center of Johnson & Johnson.  Later, in 2001, he served as a group leader at Munich Biotech, where he worked on cancer research.  In 2003, he returned to J&J, where he was a Research Manager and Fellow focusing on skin lipid research.

Dr. Pappas is one of the first to culture cells that were previously not cultured; as human primary sebocytes and human facial preadipocytes.  He has authored 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications, patents, and four books.

While at J&J, he collaborated with many experts and KOLs to open a new field within the academic textbook arena and curriculums on “Nutrition and Skin”, published by Springer in 2011.  The success and wide recognition of this project paved the way for his second textbook by Springer in 2014: “Lipids and Skin Health”; also the very first of its kind.

Dr. Pappas joined as an adjunct faculty the Dept. of Food Science at Rutgers University (since 2013) and the Rutgers Center for Lipid Research.  He was also appointed on the scientific advisory board of directors of the CARF Society and as a Trustee in the Board of TRI Princeton (a hair research Institute).

In 2018 he moved to Switzerland to Head the Nestle Skin Health’s Innovation Center as the Head of all Programs for Dermatology, Aesthetics and Cosmetics.

The summer of 2020 Dr. Pappas founded Apomach LLC in Switzerland a startup company focusing on tissue regeneration using a novel injectable technology for age induced Facial Fat loss.

In the meantime he is the Senior Dermatology Consultant for PPM Nogra Pharma in Switzerland and the Senior Dermatology Consultant for Entrinsic Biosciences in Norwood, MA where he builds a new skincare and biology research department.

His interdisciplinary training and experience in lipids, metabolism, stem cells, microbiome and skin research has led him to initiate and chair major symposia and lectures in many prestigious societies and universities
