Dr. Arielle Kauvar is the founding director of New York Laser & Skin Care, a private practice specializing in laser surgery, Mohs (skin cancer) surgery, cosmetic dermatology and clinical research.  She is Clinical Professor of Dermatology at New York University Grossman School of Medicine, a board-certified dermatologist and a leading authority on laser technology, minimally invasive skin rejuvenation and skin cancer treatment.

Dr. Kauvar has pioneered many laser and device-based skin treatments that are commonly used throughout the world and remains actively engaged in the development of new technology and clinical research.  A principal investigator in over 50 clinical trials in all phases of development and the FDA approval process, she has authored over 100 publications, including manuscripts, book chapters and a comprehensive textbook on laser surgery. She lectures at national and international scientific meetings, is frequently interviewed by the media, and is a consultant to the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.  

Recognized as a Castle and Conolly Top Doctor award and New York Times Super Doctor for many years, Dr. Kauvar was honored with the Leon Goldman Memorial Award by the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery for excellence in research, patient care and education.  She received multiple Presidential Citations from the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery - and the Elle magazine Beauty Genius Award for her innovation in laser surgery.  

What most distinguishes Dr. Kauvar, however, is her passion for understanding the interaction of lasers and energy devices with tissue, the mechanisms of disease and the synergy of medical therapies with energy devices to advance the treatment of skin disorders, sun damage and skin aging.

A graduate of Princeton University, magna cum laude, and elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi, Dr. Kauvar received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Health Science and Technology program.  She completed her dermatology residency at New York University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and laser surgery.
