Lips in 2026: a new philosophy of perioral harmonization

Objetivos: To evaluate contemporary approaches to perioral harmonization considering anatomy, age-related changes, tissue quality, and combined treatment strategies Introducción: Modern aesthetic medicine is gradually moving away from isolated lip augmentation and excessive volumization. Increasing attention is being paid to natural harmonization, tissue quality, age-related perioral changes, and preservation of individual facial anatomy. The perioral region is now considered a unified anatomical and functional system requiring a comprehensive treatment approach Materiales / método: A review of current international literature on lip anatomy, perioral aging, injectable procedures, and energy-based technologies was performed. Combined treatment protocols aimed not only at volumization but also at tissue remodeling, skin quality improvement, and preservation of natural lip anatomy were analyzed Resultados: Modern lip harmonization protocols increasingly involve comprehensive correction of the perioral region using fillers, biostimulatory treatments, and energy-based technologies. This approach may improve tissue quality, reduce signs of photoaging, and preserve natural lip proportions without excessive volumization. Conclusión: Perioral harmonization is evolving beyond simple volumization toward a regenerative and anatomy-oriented approach in aesthetic medicine. Individualized protocols and attention to tissue quality may provide more natural and long-lasting aesthetic outcomes
