Objectives: This study aims to explore the efficacy and safety of our three-step approach to acne scars using picosecond Laser treatment.

Introduction: Picosecond Laser has recently emerged as the newest treatment option for acne scars. When equipped with a Diffractive Optical Element (DOE), a picosecond Laser, can transform the laser beam into columns of high fluence beams, which can cause Laser Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB), which will induce a tissue repair process to improve acne scarring. We propose a three-step protocol to treat acne scars using a picosecond Laser.

Materials / method: 30 Asian patients of both genders in the tropical zone were enrolled in this study. Subjects received 6 Laser treatments at 4-week intervals. The three steps in this approach include the simultaneous use of Laser toning to target pigmentary alteration due to acne vulgaris, followed by two Fractional Laser treatments using fractional DOE handpieces with two different focal lengths to target different depths of acne-scarred skin.
Efficacy and safety were evaluated using Global Acne Scar Severity Scale (GASSS) at every visit and four weeks and eight weeks, and after the final treatment.

Results: Remarkable improvements were seen in all patients using the global improvement scores at weeks 4, 8, and 12, with increased improvements at each follow-up compared to baseline.

Improvements were seen in skin tone, texture, and depth reduction of the acne scars.

Conclusion: The three steps combination of picosecond 1064 nm laser toning and fractional Picosecond 1064nm laser with two different focal lengths is safe and efficacious in treating acne scars for Asian Patients in Tropical Zone.

Objectives: Show the author's experience having treated more than 1600 tattoos with nanosecond and picosecond Q-switched technologies

Introduction: Q-switched nanosecond and picosecond lasers have proven to be the most efficient lasers with the fewest complications in tattoo removal treatment

Results: several B&A will be shown

Conclusion: Based on the author's experience, the Q-swithed picosecond laser was found to be more effective in removing tattoos.

Materials / method: We have been using the modern Q switched Nd:YAG laser system with the latest technological advancements and attachments in our patients

The 532nm wavelength has always been a difficult wavelength to use in darker skin considering its absorption into both the melanin and the oxyhemoglobin.
The availability of the dye kit hand pieces in the newer QSLs has made it possible to produproduce 660 nm wavelength which is safer than the 532nm due to its specificity of absorption into the melanin sparing the hemoglobin

The epidermal lesions treated easily in the dark skins with 660nm without any risks

Results: We have been using the 660 nm wavelength to treat the epidermal pigmented lesions like freckles and lentigines in our patients with dark skin and have found that it is equally efficacious as the 532 nm wavelength and at the same time is associated with lesser post laser complications

Conclusion: To conclude the newer additions to the QSLs has made these machines extremely versatile and useful in the present day derma laser practice. The availability of the 660 nm wavelength has reduced the possibility of serious post laser complications in skins of colour while maintaining the efficacy of treatment

Objectives: Light can deliver energy to tissue selectively targeting specific structures in order to induce the desired therapeutic outcome. For the safe and effective removal of unwanted hair, the key optical parameters are wavelength, pulse duration and energy density, and can vary dependent upon the skin and hair colour. The common devices are ALEX, Nd:YAG, diode and IPL. In motion hair removal is also common. Japanese -Asian hair is mostly black and most laser devices are effective. Recently hair removal for children or for elder is also get some demand. I will present Japanese recent hair removal.
