Objectives: The use of botulinum toxin in the treatment of the forehead has long since become established and has replaced the use of intradermal fillers in wrinkles. However, it happens sometimes that the effect appears short-lived and unsatisfactory for patients and doctors. Often this is related to a thinning of the subcutaneous tissue and a relaxation of the skin resulting in frontal skeletonization and change in the bone morphology of the forehead.

Materials / method: The combined treatment of toxin and hyaluronic acid is possible in the same session because it is performed on different levels. The HA and toxin is placed deep under the frontal muscle in a plane above the muscle. The injections are performed in a chequered pattern, alternating the injection points of hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin.
Results: 20 patients have been treated with this "Chessboard technique". There were no major complications. The results were long-lasting and very satisfactory even for the patients.
Conclusion: We bring the results of both feasibility and safety of this method.
