Objectives: Presentation of technique to perform safe injections with HA-filler to nose
Introduction: Medical Rhinoplasty - correction of nose irregularities and proportions with HA-fillers is a growing indication. With relatively small volumes we can change the proportions of the nose to give our patients a more balanced appearance. Surgical rhinoplasties will always remain as an option but it is always a challenge since small healing irregularities can become very visible for the patients. This is the reason why we see an increasing demand for medical rhinoplasties, primary (no previous survey) or secondary (after surgical rhinoplasty).
Materials / method: Many practitioners feel anxiety to perform medical rhinoplasties due to the high risk area and consequences of intravascular injections. Since many years back we know that aspiration isn't 100% safe and with filler in the needle (primed) the possibilities of aspiration decreases. Due to this fact we should only use cannulas for nose injections and with the cannula we can attend to all the different indications of nose injections such as, nose ridge, septum, deep on the columellar, nose alas and other indications.
Results: Technique is less pain, greater predictability and most important safe. We can use the cannula as our 3D gps and feel the different anatomical layers and do our injections in a controlled depth with very little risk of intravascular compromise.
Conclusion: Injection of HA-filler to nose to create a better balance and proportion is very high in patient satisfaction. Although the area is a high risk area procedure can be performed with a high safety using microcannula and sharp needle in certain areas.
