Objectives: It’s important to remove all of the permanent material injected but also not to leave permanent scarring that could provide a bad result. That’s the reason why I have standardised aesthetic skin incisions that can help to remove the material guaranteeing a satisfactory result and not leaving any visible scarring.
Introduction: Many articles have been written regarding how silicone and permanent filler injection can lead to severe complications both from an aesthetic and a functional point of view and this makes us realize that it is a true and severe fact.
It’s important to focus not only on the bad aesthetic result but also on the residual functional problems such as mouth movements and severe chronic skin inflammation.
Materials / method: 100 patients have been treated for permanent filler removal. Different face areas were involved such as frontal, temporal, peri-orbital, zygomatic-malar, nasolabial and peri-oral regions as well as lips, chin and mandibular area. Different aesthetically proven skin incision have been used to achieve the goal. A questionnaire regarding patient expectation and satisfaction was completed by all patients.
Results: Filler removal trough aesthetic skin incision was accurately performed and no visible post operative scarring was complained by the patients. In all the cases it has been possible to remove at least 90% of the previously injected filler. According to the questionnaire the satisfactory rate was high.
Conclusion: It’s important to remove all of the permanent material injected but also not to leave permanent scarring that could provide a bad result. Standard aesthetic skin incisions can help to remove the material guaranteeing a satisfactory result and not leaving any visible scarring.
