Objectives: New physical treatments (laser, radiofrequency, intense pulsed light [IPL]), enable
good ambulatory long-term management for all HS stages.
We performed a literature research to evaluate all laser, light and EBD sources that have been used to treat hidradenitis and performed a trial, analyzing the efficacy of local treatment with a combination of intense pulsed light (IPL) and radiofrequency (RF).

Introduction: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, inflammatoryskin disease with high burden for patients and limited treatment options characterized by abscess formation and mutilating scar formation in the body folds. HS patients are treated both conservatively
and surgically mostly by dermatologists, which requires extensive knowledge of the
pathogenesis, trigger factors, comorbidities and treatment options.
New physical treatments (laser, radiofrequency, intense pulsed light [IPL]), enable
good ambulatory long-term management for all HS stages.

Materials / method: We performed a literature research to evaluate all laser, light and EBD sources that have been used to treat hidradenitis and performed a trial, analyzing the efficacy of local treatment with a combination of intense pulsed light (IPL) and radiofrequency (RF).
The retrospective study included 111 patients who were treated with IPL+RF at least 5 times. Primary endpoint was the change in surgical interventions. Secondary endpoints included additional patient-reported outcomes, e.g., effects on their qualityof life.

Results: The most frequent technology used to treat acne inversa was reported to be Nd Yag lasers for hair removal and some anti inflammatory result. Some other wavelengths were used with the same purpose and similar result of reducing the sxmptoms by 30-60 %.
Pulsed dye lasers and PDT were less succesful. Surgical ablative lasers have been rreoprted as an alternative to classic surgers but secoindary healing and less bleeding.
In the trail of IPL+RF the number of surgical interventions decreased from 3.2 to 0.3 per year (p < 0.001). Secondary endpoints were also significantly improved: The days of s

Conclusion: This retrospective assessment of patient-reported treatment outcomes of 50 HS cases after treatment with LAight revealed a significant reduction of required surgical interventions and sick-days along with improved quality of life. Thus, it appears that IPL+ RF treatment not only improves disease activity, but also secondary care aspects. Future studies will need to confirm these findings in a controlled setting.

Objectives: To introduce a novel laser device emitting in a blueband to help treatment of active acne

Introduction: An interventional, prospective, longitudinal and descriptive study, with masked assessment of results, was conducted to determine the practicability, efficacy and safety of a high-power diode laser (Milesman Blauman®, 445 nm) in the treatment of acne.

Materials / method: In acne papules and pustules, 11 biopsies of lesions treated on the back in a single session were analyzed to assess the structural damage of the skin caused by the treatment, and how the repair of that damage happens. A total of 97 target lesions on the face, were studied in detail in 10 patients. In histological follow-up to 6 weeks.

Results: A good repair was found both at the epidermal and dermal level, with initial rupture of the dermo-epidermal junction, rapid restoration, and progressive reduction of inflammation. Three weeks after treatment, the number of target lesions on the face, decreased by 64% statistically significant (p=0.0051). Treatment was well tolerated with highly satisfying outcomes.

Conclusion: Treatment is effective and safe under the dosimetric parameters used and is a relevant therapeutic novelty serving as a good complementary treatment for acne.

Objectives: 1726nm is directly absorbed by sebum and has no impact on melanin. This means this laser can be used in the treatment of acne in all skin types.

Introduction: A variety of energy-based devices have been used treat acne. Many can induce some improvement in acne. However, once treatment is stopped acne flares are the norm. This is because none of these technologies impact directly on the sebaceous gland.

Materials / method: This talk will focus on our recent FDA study on the use of a 1726nm (AviClear, Cutera) laser for the treatment of acne.

Results: Mechanism of action will be discussed, study parameters as well as both 3-month post-treatment data (used for FDA submission) and 6- and 12- month post-treatment data.

Conclusion: This laser is the 1st ever laser FDA cleared for long-term clearance of mild, moderate, and severe acne.
