Introduction: Gluteal augmentation with fat transfer is one of the most popular procedure in aesthetic surgery.
Its popularity did not stop rising these last ten years with some of the highest growth rate among all cosmetic procedures.
The importance of social network in our speciality and the democratization of plastic surgery highly participated in the interest for this procedure.
Materials / method: This also lead to mediatization of the tragic accidents that happened these last ten years in USA and Europe, accidents that brought some countries to the point of thinking about banishing it.The state of Florida is well known for the number of BBL they do each year, between 15 000 and 18 000 for a total of 25 000 annually in USA but also for the number of death recorded these last ten years and directly related to this technique.
Results: In 2018, following these dramatic and repeated accidents,a group of international expert met with the ASPS, ASEPS ans ISAPS to urge surgeons to change their techniques.Although the same year, the ASERF task force gave precise recommendations for BBL, new death occured.
Because of that, some surgeons decided to use ultrasonography during their procedures to maximize the safety of their BBL.
Inspired by our colleagues from USA? we developed our own technique of echoguided BBL.
Conclusion: Echoguided buttock lipofilling is a safe, simple, reproducible and transmissible procedure.
