Objectives: This case series aims to evaluate the combined effect of Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL), Radiofrequency Microneedling (RFM), and Rose Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes on various forms of facial pigmentation and assess the safety and tolerability of the combined treatment.
Introduction: Facial pigmentation disorders, including melasma, solar lentigines, acne scars, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, can be challenging to treat especially in patients with darker skin types. Previous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of individual treatments such as pulsed dye laser (PDL), radiofrequency (RF) microneedling, and topical exosomes.
Materials / method: The study included 11 female patients aged 36 to 48 years, the majority of whom have Fitzpatrick skin type IV (73%), while the remainder are skin type III (27%). Patients underwent various combinations of PDL, RFM, and topical exosomes, with sessions ranging from (2) to (10) for PDL, (2) to (8) for RFM, and (2) to (8) for exosomes. Photographs and Visia skin analysis were used for monitoring results.
Results: Results showed that patients who received more sessions of the combined treatments generally experienced better improvement in facial pigmentation. Notable improvements were observed in conditions such as melasma, solar lentigines, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Visia skin analysis showed an average reduction of spots and brown spots by 31%. All patients tolerated the combination treatment well, and no severe adverse events were reported, indicating a favorable safety profile. This multimodal approach shows synergistic benefits with combined PDL, RFM, and topical exosomes.
Conclusion: There is benefit to combination therapy with PDL, RFM, and exosomes treatment; however, variability in treatment response suggests that individual factors such as skin type and the number of sessions may influence outcomes. The study’s small sample size and lack of a control group limit the generalizability of the findings, and the absence of long-term follow-up precludes conclusions about the durability of treatment effects. Future research should include larger, controlled studies to validate these findings and assess the long-term efficacy and safety of this combination therapy.
