Injectable PRF for anti ageing aesthetic treatment - an Asian perspective
Objectives: How injectable PRF is prepared & injected for anti ageing benefits. How PRF is prepared, what should be ideal centrifugation speed, type of tube for blood collection, type of centrifuge machine, how to extract PRF and how to inject in face & peri orbital area. Why PRF is superior than PRP.
Introduction: In recent years,Injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) has emerged as a promising therapy in dermatology, particularly in the realm of anti ageing & skin rejuvenation . As dermatologists, our pursuit of safe and effective solutions to combat the signs of aging is perpetual, and PRF presents a compelling answer to this dilemma.
This abstract aims to provide an overview of the mechanism, efficacy, and clinical applications of PRF in anti ageing & skin rejuvenation benefits.
Materials / method: • We have given injectable PRF to all patients. Bilateral intradermal injections into the malar area (1 mL each), nasolabial folds (0.5 mL each), and upper lip skin above the vermilion border (1 mL) were performed using a 32 g × 4 mm needle
• Individual 0.1-mL injections spaced 5 mm apart were administered to cover the three regions
• In total, approximately 4 mL of i-PRF in four 1-mL syringes was administered.
A 3cc PRF solution was injected into the wrinkles around the eyes with a canola number 27 on both sides.
The injection was performed at the sub-dermis site and in one session.
Results: We have compared Platelet rich plasma (PRP) with Platelet rich Fibrin (PRF) for its anti ageing benefits. We found that injectable PRF is better than PRP in producing anti ageing & skin rejuvenation benefits.
Significant improvement in several skin characteristics was mirrored by significant improvement in patient satisfaction, thereby suggesting a benefit for the use of i-PRF for facial skin rejuvenation.
Following PRF injection, in addition to improving deep wrinkles, noticeable improvement was observed in fine and small wrinkles, periocular hyperpigmentation, and overall skin freshness.
Conclusion: PRF is superior than PRP for anti ageing benefits
Liquid- injectable PRF is suitable for Facial rejuvenation & anti ageing
Centrifugation should be start within 90 seconds of blood collection
10 ml of blood required for making 1 ml of i-PRF.
i-PRF should be injected within 15 to 20 mins of preparation
PRF contains higher concentrations of platelets, fibrin, and leukocytes compared to other platelet-rich concentrates.
PRF not only represents a rich source of growth factors but also provides a scaffold to support true tissue regeneration.
