Objectives: The desire to maintain a youthful and healthy appearance has led to the search for effective treatments in the field of aesthetics. Objectives: Given a more and more liberal discourse about sexual relations, identities and a surge in demand for procedures that address the human genitalia, we wanted to understand which historical precedings make even us medical professionals still struggle with talking about our most private parts today.

Introduction: Starting with the first anatomical descriptions of the human genital components, we explored which geographic and societal components are influencing the way we think and speak about all sex-related issues up until today.

Materials / method: We conducted a broad research taking into account historical anatomical publications and books in evolving editions, theories of sexual development and sex educations as well as the voices of sexual psychology experts.

Results: Events, developments and findings of over 2000 years back in history still influence how we think, talk and act about the topic of human genitalia and sexual reproduction today. Being aware of these influences and biases can help us as medical service providers.

Conclusion: Understanding the complex history, we can learn to better communicate with our patients, remove taboos that hinder open discourse in this growing market and provide the highest grade of care in performing genital treatments whilst understanding the clients motivation better.

Objectives: Our double-blind longitudinal clinical psychological research included 14 menopausal women with high FSFI satisfaction scores following laser or RF vaginal interventions.

We demonstrated a high positive correlation between the subjects’ FSFI scores and the Hy (hysteria), D (Depression) and L (Lie) scales of the MMPI-2. Such high positive correlation between the FSFI and the L-scale negates the reported increase in female sexual satisfaction following laser or RF vaginal rejuvenation.
