Objectives: This presentation intends to show, that technology and wavelength of diode lasers can be used for a range of other indications , which allows physicians to gain much higher Benefits from one device, however it is imoortant to know how to selct the correct Parameters for other indications
Diode lasers usually allow to treat with wavelengths of 760, 810, 940
nm mainly are absorbed by melanin ,which is used to treat the pigmentation in hair shafts, in order to destroy the hair bulb by heat for laser hair removal.
Introduction: Also other pigmentation absorb these wavelengths so it can be used to remove pigmented lesions. In low doses with frequent sessions and low energy it is used to do whitening of the skin.
The absorption spectrum of melanin is close to that of hemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin . Diode lasers utilize a wavelength of 800 nm at 5 to 250 millisecond duration, and have been proven to be effective in indications like superficial leg telangiectasis and reticular veins. This procedure can treat Acne inversa (hidradenitis)
Materials / method: Absorption of such wavelengths can be increased by adding gold covered nano particles . Such particles are applied to the skin surface and massaged into the sebaceous glands .Once positioned there the laser wavelength heats the sebaceous glands selectively and destroys them resulting in a long term reduction of papulo-pustular acne. Like many othe wavelengths also diode lasers can be used to ablate tissue, when the tip is held 0,5-1 cm above the target, then heat is maximized on the surface and can be used for ablation procedures. This is mainly done for periodontal regeneration

Conclusion: Treatment parameters like in hair removal but with longer pulses ,with 3 passes + 3 treatments with 1 month interval create a general heating of skin. resulting in a collagen stimulation like with Radiofrequency used for tightening. Similar effects can be achieved If the parameters are selected like reduced cooling, low fluence and high frequency of shots over 10-20 min .Indications for these kind of parameters are improvement of fine wrinkles , of pore size and improvement of texture .
