Objectives: A book is judged by its cover.Skin is the largest organ of the body.It makes one sixth of the total body weight .It is incredibly durable but like all other organs it succumbs to the effects of aging.As it is the most visible indicator of aging it has its role in telling about our general health and aging. A youthful face is a blend of symmetrical features with a luminous hydrated and wrinkle free skin. Thread lift is a non surgical procedure which is gaining popularity as a dermatologist my special focus is on skin related improvements with thread lift. Introduction: A thread lift gives anti ptotic effects for lifting the skin and underlying structures.It is a treatment of choice for mild to moderate sagging.We are using absorbable sutures made from Poly L Lactic acid,Caprolactone and hyaluronic acid.The barbed sutures provide dual action like lifting and collagen regeneration.Poly L Lactic acid is responsible for rejuvenation during biodegradation.L Lactic acid stimulates collagen while caprolactone slows down the process of biodegradation.Hyluronic acid results in hydration and regeneration of the tissues. Materials / method: Ten female subjects having mild to moderate mid face sagging and neck ptdosisbetween 40 to 55 years of age with a poor quality skin were selected.Two subjects had mild acne scarring.Five pairs of threads were used for each subject.Final results were assessed after a month and two months.Threads were inserted following aseptic measures.Before and after photographs were taken.A course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicines were given.Subjects were called for a follow up after 4 weeks and 8 weeks. Results: 80% improvement in contouring and face lifting. 70% saw volumisation of face. 80% observed a tighter and rejuvenated skin. 70% saw an improvement in complexion. 50% saw improved tone and texture. 30% saw a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles. 30% saw a reduction in hyperpigmentation. 20% observed scar improvement. Conclusion: Thread lift improves the quality of skin .It helps in improving tone and texture.It helps in subcision of scar tissue and improves it.Hyluronic acid lightens the pigmentation in skin of colour.The skin appears smoother, glossy,brighter and lighter after the treatment.The thickness of skin also increases.Hence the anti ptotic effect comes with a good quality of skin.
