Platelet rich plasma in androgenetic alopecia treatment
Objectives: The objective is to show how PRP can improve and boost even more the gold standard treatment in male and female patients with androgenetic alopecia
Introduction: Platelet rich plasma is rich em growth factors that can boost the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, one of the principal causes of dermatologic visits. The gold standard treatment is the use of minoxidil, but in some cases it is not sufficient for the treatment and good results.
Materials / method: For this trial was selected patients with androgenetic alopecia Hamilton I - III or Ludwing I - II
We use 11 ml of blood centrifuged for 10 minutes and infuse at the alopecia area 3 ml of PRP monthly for 3 months.
Padronize pictures were taken and analyse by a system (HairMetrix) to improve the analysis.
One group received only topic minoxidil and saline injections monthly and the other group topic minoxidil and PRP injection during the same period.
Results: We are still on going with the study and waiting to see the final results.
The parcial results are promising and all patients that did the PRP were satisfied with the visual results
Conclusion: We are still working to see all the final results.
As a partial result it is possible to see clinical improval at the androgenetic alopecia, but we are waiting for the end of all patients treatments to have the final results
