Deep plane facelift: Refining outcomes with newer techniques
Objectives: Demonstrate the deep plane facelift
Demonstrate the effect of vector adjustment on the jawline and cheek
Demonstrate the use of chin and mandibular augmentation on enhancing the results
Demonstrate the use of V-lock sutures to accentuate the jawline and
cheek
Introduction: Deep plane facelift and deep neck surgery are increasingly becoming a gold standard in facial rejuvenation. Repositioning of tissues may be optimal, but as in all aesthetic procedures, refinements in treatment are what produce next level outcomes.
Materials / method: The senior author reviewed the past 5 years of patients undergoing facial rejuvenation with deep plane facelift and deep neck surgery. Evolution of the techniques have progressed, but most critical has been the ability to treat unique features of both acquired and congenital facial deficiencies that left untreated may compromise the outcomes.
Results: Several key refinements are presented. These include newer 3D approaches to brow lifting, anatomic and regenerative fat grafting as well as fat grafting for structural deficiencies and age-related changes in the bony skeleton and nose, the use of continuous V-lock sutures and jawline shaping and the judicious use of implants and osseous genioplasty to enhance chin and jawline prominence.
Conclusion: Refinements in addressing acquired and congenital deficiencies as well as adoption of both regenerative and three dimensional approaches to facial rejuvenation have taken our results to the next level.
