Ultrasound anatomy for facial artery: Ensuring safety and accuracy in botox, fillers and thread lifting procedures
Objectives: We provide a detailed exploration of the ultrasound anatomy of the facial artery, which is essential for safe injection procedures. We will explain the arterial path from the neck (common carotid artery) to the face (external and internal carotid artery) and show the dynamic relationship between the facial artery and surrounding structures of the ophthalic artery using ultrasound images.
Introduction: The facial artery is a vital component of the circulatory system, responsible for delivering blood to the face and its adjacent structures. This article delves into the detailed sono-anatomy of the facial artery, tracing its path from the neck to the face while specifically highlighting the temple region concerning injectable procedures. The facial artery's journey begins within the carotid triangle, where it originates from the external carotid artery, slightly above the lingual artery. Its course is marked by complex interactions with various surrounding structures.
