Non-GLP-1 facial lipoatrophia: Same target, same treatment?
Objectives: Show results and therapeutic options in cases of Non-GLP-1 facial lipoatrophy.
Introduction: Plastic surgeon Oscar Ramirez established the "double ogee line" as the curve of beauty in the midface. Different causes lead to the loss of this beauty line because they provoke the loss of fatty tissue in the midface. Different procedures have been described to restore volume in the midface.
Materials / method: Patients with different cases of midface fat loss not caused by GLP-1 facial lipoatrophy were treated by the author with synthetic fillers, fat grafts, and the placement of silicone, polytetrafluoroethylene, and polyethylene malar implants.
Results: The results obtained with the different therapeutic options are shown.
Conclusion: Depending on the degree of medial facial lipoatrophy and its causes, successful permanent or definitive results can be obtained. The use of facial implants is considered ideal in cases where a significant amount of volume is to be recovered permanently.
