Efficacy of microneedling with exosome treatment of androgenetic alopecia: A clinical study on 72 patients
Objectives: This study investigates the efficacy and safety of microneedling combined with a single administration of 1 cc exosomes in patients with AGA.
Introduction: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a prevalent condition characterized by progressive hair thinning. Emerging regenerative therapies, including microneedling and exosome-based treatments, have shown promise in stimulating hair regrowth. This study investigates the efficacy and safety of microneedling combined with a single administration of 1 cc exosomes in patients with AGA.
Materials / method: Seventy-two patients (48 males, 24 females) with AGA received three sessions of microneedling at four-week intervals. A single dose of 1 cc exosomes was applied topically during the first session. Hair density and thickness were evaluated using digital trichoscopy at baseline and 12 weeks post-treatment. Global photographic assessment and patient satisfaction scores were recorded. Adverse events were monitored.
Results: Significant improvements in hair density and thickness were observed at 12 weeks compared to baseline (p < 0.05). Global photographic evaluations indicated moderate to marked improvement in 73% of patients. Patient-reported satisfaction was high, with 80% noting visible hair regrowth. Side effects were minimal, including transient erythema and mild discomfort . No severe adverse reactions were reported.
Conclusion: A single application of 1 cc exosomes combined with three microneedling sessions is a promising and well-tolerated approach for treating AGA. Further studies with extended follow-ups are recommended to determine long-term efficacy and optimize treatment protocols.
