Blending Deep Plane vs. SMASectomy Facelifting with Energy-Based Device Technology to Maximize Results
Objectives: Anatomy-based decision making in facelift and platysmaplasty surgery is needed to produce a positive and powerful result. This presentation focuses on delaminatingSMAS & deep-plane facelift techniques, & the combination of energy based treatments with each type of facelift to maximize the result and treat overlying aged skin. Producing the best result without overdoing the necklift by using a medial, lateral or combined approach to platysmaplasty is examined in detail, as is the different facial types and shapes/ ethnic morphologies in deciding which facelift technique to use.
Introduction: The objectives are to educate the audience on the different noninvasive device technologies (including newer technology or
indications) and soft tissue injectables on the US market that the author uses together with facial aesthetic procedures.
Materials / method: I will show how
to incorporate these with smaller segue procedures in middle age as well as surgical face and necklifting procedures (in the more
advanced aging population). Understanding the increased demand for these procedures with the advent of rapid medical weight loss
with GLP-1 agonists (like semaglutide) and how to manage this under one practice
Results: Case series of before, intraoperative, and after photographs as well as video demonstrating techniques will be shown by the author.
Clear explanation of its existing or impending impact and implications on the practice of aesthetic medicine / surgery:
Using injectables and nonsurgical technology to improve the aesthetic appearance of concerns such as fine rhytides, pre-existing poor
skin quality with lack of collagen and elastin.
Conclusion: The efficacy of these techniques when used with minimally invasive procedures such as RFAL , or as standalone
treatments in our medical spa will be discussed; safe methods of combination therapy such as SUPERB (parallel beam ultrasound
technology) and RF microneedling with or without dermal fillers will be detailed as well along with case examples. Mitigation and
management of complications is discussed as well.
