Breast Implant downsize with or without a mastopexy
Objectives: 1) Attendees will be given tools be able to critically assess outcomes of implant removal or downsize
2) Attendees will be able communicate with patients regarding outcomes
3) attendees will be able to determine whether a Mastopexy is absolutely necessary
Introduction: As the number of patients who have undergone breast augmentation grows, and as those patients age, skills for for determining which revision interventions will provide the best outcomes are now necessary. Breasts continue to change thru out a patients lifetime, whether because of pregnancy, weight gain, weight loss or menopause. Our ability to give our patients a desirable outcome thru a secondary or tertiary surgery is critical to both our satisfaction and that of our patients.
Materials / method: Numerous scenarios will be reviewed regarding revisionary surgeries with different solutions depending on patient goals as well as their anatomy.
Results: Attendees will be able to critically evaluate and communicate with patients regarding outcomes from an implant removal or downsize alone or with a Mastopexy. Results of numerous age groups and body types will be shown. A Mastopexy is not always necessary. Examples of simple implant removal or downsize will be shown
Conclusion: Not every implant removal or downsize requires a Mastopexy, many times less surgery can deliver a superior result.
