GLP-1 Receptor Agonists and Acne: Unveiling Unexpected Dermatological Interactions in the Era of Metabolic Therapies
Objectives: GLP-1 receptor agonists, widely used for metabolic diseases, have shown unexpected effects on acne. This lecture explores their potential to improve acne through insulin sensitivity and IGF-1 reduction, especially in PCOS, while also addressing paradoxical acne flares linked to weight loss, hormonal shifts, or nutritional changes. Through clinical cases and mechanistic insights, we’ll discuss how these therapies may reshape acne management in the context of metabolic health
