The Red Dot Technique [Video]
Objectives: To present a safe, reproducible, and minimally invasive laser lipolysis technique specifically designed for submental contouring, and to demonstrate its clinical effectiveness in improving cervico-mandibular definition with rapid recovery and high patient satisfaction.
Introduction: The submental region remains one of the most demanding anatomical areas in aesthetic contouring due to its limited skin elasticity, proximity to vital structures, and high patient expectations. While conventional liposuction remains effective for fat removal, predictability of skin retraction and downtime continue to be concerns. Advances in laser-assisted lipolysis have allowed for more controlled energy delivery, offering both adipose disruption and tissue contraction. This presentation focuses on a refined laser lipolysis approach specifically adapted for double-chin treatment.
Materials / method: The presented technique utilizes a diode laser with a radial fiber delivering subcutaneous energy at dual wavelengths: 980 nm for adipose emulsification and 1470 nm for tissue contraction.
All procedures were performed under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting. The technique emphasizes precise entry points, controlled energy delivery, and continuous tactile and visual feedback to optimize safety and contour accuracy.
A procedural video is included to demonstrate the step-by-step execution of the technique and key technical nuances.
Results: Patients treated with this targeted laser lipolysis approach demonstrated consistent improvement in submental contour and jawline definition, with rapid recovery, minimal bruising, and reliable skin retraction. Mean downtime was short, and postoperative discomfort was limited. The procedure showed a favorable safety profile with a low complication rate and high patient satisfaction.
Conclusion: Targeted laser-assisted lipolysis of the submental area represents a controlled and patient-friendly evolution of double-chin treatment. When performed with proper technique and energy modulation, it provides predictable contouring, enhanced skin tightening, and fast recovery, making it a valuable alternative to traditional approaches for selected patients.
