Duration of results with long-lasting non-surgical eyebrow lift and reshaping with polylactic acid and polycaprolactone (PLLPCL) resorbable barbed threads
Objectives: Traditional surgical eyebrow lift may involve scar tissue formation and other complications. However, Non-surgical options usually offer shorter-term results. To provide an extended and long lasting aesthetic improvement Eyebrow lifting was performed with a single 50cm barbed resorbable, composed of polylactic acid polycaprolactone (PLLPCL) thread, for each eyebrow, fixed to the double blunt tip hollow needle. This method aims to elevate eyebrows anchoring the ROOF by a triple loop. Triple fixation prolongs effects and allows more customized eyebrow reshaping.
Introduction: Traditional surgical eyebrow lifting procedures can result in scar formation and other complications, while non-surgical alternatives often provide only temporary results. To achieve long-lasting, natural outcomes with minimal invasiveness, a novel eyebrow lift technique using a single 50 cm barbed resorbable thread composed of polylactic acid and polycaprolactone (PLLA/PCL) fixed to a dual blunt-tip hollow needle was developed.
Materials / method: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients who underwent eyebrow lift and reshaping with the described technique. Each eyebrow was treated with one 50 cm dual blunt tip hollow needle PLLA/PCL barbed thread placed subcutaneously and anchored to the ROOF through a double or triple loop configuration. This approach allowed both eyebrow elevation and customized reshaping of the arch and tail. Outcomes were assessed by standardized photographic documentation and patient satisfaction surveys at follow-ups up to 24 months post-procedure.
Results: The technique consistently achieved natural and durable eyebrow elevation with notable aesthetic enhancement of the periorbital area. Secondary improvement in upper eyelid ptosis was observed. Patient satisfaction was high due to the immediate visible effect and sustained results lasting up to 24 months—significantly longer than typical thread lift procedures. Complications were minimal and transient, limited to mild edema or bruising resolving within several days.
Conclusion: Eyebrow lifting with 50 cm dual blunt tip hollow needle PLLA/PCL barbed threads anchored to the ROOF via a double or triple loop fixation offers a safe, effective, and long-lasting non-surgical alternative to traditional eyebrow lift surgery. This minimally invasive approach allows precise reshaping with natural results, absence of scarring, and duration of up to two years.
