Combination treatment of fractional CO2 laser and PRP. 15 years of experience
Objectives: To present results, safety profile, and patient satisfaction from a 15-year clinical experience using a combined treatment protocol of fractional CO₂ laser and PRP.
Introduction: Fractional CO₂ laser resurfacing is widely used for skin rejuvenation and scar improvement. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) has regenerative properties and may support faster healing and improved clinical outcomes when combined with laser treatments. While this combination has become increasingly popular, long-term clinical data remain limited.
Materials / method: This retrospective review includes more than 500 patients treated between 2010 and 2025. Indications included acne scars, surgical scars, striae, and photoaging. Fractional CO₂ laser settings were adjusted based on indication and skin type. Immediately after the laser procedure and TCA peeling 10%, PRP was applied both topically and via microinjections.
Results: Most patients showed visible improvement after treatment. At 3 months, almost 90% achieved at least a two-grade improvement on the GAIS scale. Downtime was shorter compared to laser alone, and the majority of patients reported faster healing and better skin quality. Side effects were mild and temporary (erythema, edema, transient bronzing). No serious or long-term complications were recorded.
