Ultrasound imaging guidance in thread lifting, the raising indication
Objectives: Show the value and indication of Ultrasound imaging in thread lifting as guidance for safer thread insertion and an easy way to diagnose and manage thread lifting complications if they occur.
Introduction: Thread lifting is one of the popular aesthetic procedures, it is safer than fillers in terms of vascular occlusion however it is not risk free, intradermal threads is not uncommon which could result from improper downward pressure with the scissors while cutting the thread . thread extrusion, infection and parotid glad or parotid duct are reported. Ultrasound is a useful tool to learn about the patient anatomy prior to thread insertion & to detect & follow up any complications if they occur
Materials / method: -Ultrasound Imaging of the face showing the different layers & highlighting the lateral face & the homogeneous hypo-ectopic parotid gland right on top of the masseter muscle.
-Showing different threads echogenicity
-showing reported cases for intrastate thread insertion , intradermal threads insertion
Results: - Different threads are shown in Ultrasound which could help on the diagnosis of parotid gland or parotid duct injury
-Intradermal threads could be visualized & precisely located & removed with ultrasound guidance.
-patients pre thread lift scan is valuable in understanding the patients anatomy the skin thickness & the location & size of the parotid n
Conclusion: Ultrasound is a very useful tool that could help a safer & better threads insertion & also the early detection & precise management of complications if they occurs .
Pre & post thread insertion ultrasound scanning is highly recommended for all patients
